Multiply is the national programme focused on improving adult numeracy skills. Whether that be improving household finances, helping children with homework, making more sense of the facts in the media, or improving numeracy skills specific to a line of work. It is targeted at adults aged 19+ who need to improve their numeracy (up to and including Level 2) and supports both the employed and the unemployed.

The North East CA has been allocated £1.4million for Multiply delivery from 1 April to 31 March 2025 across North Tyneside, Newcastle and Northumberland areas.

Our Multiply programme will focus on three delivery themes:

  • Community engagement
  • Family learning
  • Numeracy skills for the workplace

We want to ensure that the programme is engaging and that clear progression pathways are available for those who take part in the programme.

Our Multiply delivery will target participants who are:

  • Unemployed/economically inactive who have prior attainment for maths/numeracy below full Level 2 and would like to improve skills with numbers or learn how maths can be used on everyday tasks.
  • Parents/carers to show how maths is useful in the management of a home, activities with their children from cooking, baking, crafting or support with homework.
  • Employed people who are in insecure employment or have low pay, and maths skills could support progression or specific maths for their workplace.

We are proud to work in partnership with the following organisations for our Multiply programme:
